Episode 198 - How To Become A Secondhand and Vintage Clothing Reseller

In this episode, Allison shares a lot about her career in secondhand and vintage clothing - from age 15 to 30. She has now told over 50,000 items and through this, has learned a lot about the industry. Many people have asked her how she learned the industry (just trial and error!), so she decided to make a 25+ page PDF guide "How To Be A Reseller." In this episode, we dive into some of what's included in that guide so listeners can hear some BTS into this industry, gain some thrift tips for themselves and understand the importance of circular fashion.

EPISODE 198:

Allison first started off reselling vintage Nebraska husker apparel, then she opened New Wave in 2020 (which sold secondhand, vintage and handmade goods) and then she opened 1404 Collective in 2023 (which only sells second hand).

We discuss the challenges and rewards of starting a small business, the importance of doing market research, and the value of networking within the reselling community. We emphasize the importance of community, collaboration, and sustainability in the fashion industry, while providing practical advice for aspiring resellers, including sourcing, pricing strategies, and overcoming challenges.
